Role call for Ajith

Thala Ajith's 50th film Mankatha has been in the news for various reasons. First, there was a long debate on who would be playing the female lead in the film, which is being directed by Venkat Prabhu. And, the trailer of the film, which released with Suseenthiran's Naan Mahaan Alla, grabbed attention. The sleek trailer, which featured Ajith, was praised by everyone and was given a thumbs-up by the actor's fans. 

And now, recent reports claim that the film, which will be made in both Tamil and Telugu, will have Ajith and Nagarjuna swapping roles in the two versions. 

According to reports, Ajith will play the lead in the Tamil version while Nagarjuna will have an important role in it. And, in the Telugu version, Ajith will have a prominent role while Nagarjuna will play the lead. 

When we contacted Venkat Prabhu, all the director had to say was, "It's not confirmed yet."Whatever the case may be, Mankatha is definitely one project which Kollywood is eagerly waiting for!

Source close from Venkat Prabhu confirms that MANGATHA title problem solved and there is no change in the title and more over 'Jeeva' is not acting in the film and also 'Lakshmi Rai' not confirmed. The Confirmed actors other than Ajith were, NAGARJUNA, MANOJ MANCHU, GANESH VENKATRAMAN ,MAGATH and PREMJI. Heroine will be either 'Anushka' or 'Neethu Chandra' depends upon their dates available for the project.

Neetu Chandra's Interview about Ajith and Mangatha

Actress Neetu Chandra has hit the jackpot, and how! After debuting in Yaavarum Nalam opposite Madhavan, she wowed Kollywood audiences with her performance as the haughty and spoilt brat Tejaswini in Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai. And then, she went on to do a cameo song with director Ameer in Mysskin’s forthcoming Yuddham Sei. And now, the latest is that she has bagged the female lead in Venkat Prabhu’s film with Ajith and Nagarjuna, titled Mangaatha.

Talking to CT, Neetu says, “I got a call from Venkat Prabhu’s office a month ago and they spoke to my manager about casting me in a film opposite Ajith. I was quite excited about the offer and decided to go ahead. I later spoke to Venkat Prabhu as well. He said I’ll be playing the main female lead in the film. I think the shooting will begin in August.”

Neetu is super excited about being a part of a film that has her favourite south Indian stars and director. “I’ve heard about Venkat’s style of direction. He’s made films in different genres in a short span of time and all his movies are hilarious. He’s a great brand in Kollywood. Who would say no to working with him?” she smiles.

Mangaatha happens to be Ajith 50th film and Neetu says she’s quite lucky to land this offer. “I know Ajith has a huge fan following in south. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I hope our pairing clicks well,” she says.

Interestingly, Neetu was supposed to play Nagarjuna’s heroine in a Telugu film, which didn’t take off. “I admire Nagarjuna for his talent. But somehow, I couldn’t do that Telugu film with him. Now, I’m glad that I get to work with both Ajith and Nagarjuna in the same film,” she gushes.

Ajith's Next Flim (50th film) with Venkat Prabhu

Brushing aside rumours about his 50th flick with Gautham Vasudev Menon, top Kollywood star Ajith Kumar is teaming up with young filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, known for his offbeat themes.

Industry sources revealed that Ajith has indeed chosen Venkat Prabhu for his golden jubilee flick, which is interestingly titled Mangattha. Apparently, after tasting success with gangster flicks like Billa, the ‘King of Openings’ wanted a similar genre for his milestone flick.

Venkat Prabhu, who was already on Ajith’s list, floored him with an inspiring gangster script. The movie is to be produced by Dayanidhi Alagiri of the Cloud Nine banner.

After having chosen Venkat, sources say talks are on with a top actress who proved lucky for a versatile star in his recently released film. There is also a buzz that Tollywood star Nagarjuna will also be a part of the project. All the other details are being worked out. An official announcement is expected soon.

In the meantime, Gautham’s cop story project with Ajith has taken a back seat and it is learnt that it could be the Asal star’s 51st venture.
